Marcela is an artist based in Rio de Janeiro who creates visual narratives aimed at recovering stories of resistance, particularly those of women and grassroots movements from the Global South. Through the use of vibrant colors and a style that blends historical painting with contemporary visual culture, her work offers counter-narratives to colonialism and patriarchy, reinterpreting symbols that have been erased by official history. Her research intertwines politics, spirituality, and activism, extending beyond painting into murals, textile installations, and ceramic pieces.
